We find each and every time that eBay has lost listings, vanished if you will. Of course eBay CSRs are "apparently" unknowing, and even though we have been promised the world in follow up, I am glad we are not holding our breath. In my mind eBay has a technical issue with server banks and software causing this, but I am not as smart as those folks at eBay wink.

It is a very complex endeavor I am sure. Nothing to cause suppression, etc. All was well, it showed in our store and in eBay search. Our other items built the same date before and after were there however. I could not find this item using the "new listing" store format, could not find it by the title, could not find by our SKU, etc. It would find the item however if I used the eBay item number.

Expanding my search to eBay's search engine, the item could not be found there except by direct use of the item number. If I pulled up the "active listing" in our account, the item clearly was there, right where it should be. As well, my sync software indicates it syncs that item at eBay. The "list" of listings just took on an invalid role as an item could be in the list but still not alive on the platform!

So my next step, pulling at strings here thinking about eBay's suspect server bank issue, was to revise the listing changing nothing. Just revise and save.

Magically in a few minutes, the listing appeared again in our store, in our store search and on eBay's search. So the listing was deadheaded somehow, and now we have something else to do every so often. Honestly I am not sure from my perspective if indeed this is technical issue if the platform is recoverable without a lot of work on eBay's part, perhaps if this is the technical issue I suspect in this case maybe it is a known acceptable issue vs expending tremendous resources for a fix.

I just know for my company, it is an ever increasing headache to which we have to come up with work around procedures for these hidden adventures. Daily we seem to expend more and more time and resources concerning eBay from customer service we have been in mail order since and frankly know far better than eBay on how keep a customer base content to technical issues. It is an ever increasing headache, and if the business bottom line threshold is crossed in the future years, eBay will be fired.

Eyes always open! Tweet Share. Comments 12 Permalink. Sun Jun 23 This is truly disconcerting. One could argue that eBay was just slow in processing new items and that it was just a matter of coincidence that the item showed up after an edit. Well that argument fails on the basis that other listings were created the same day. I know that I have had many listings disappear. Hard to keep track of sometimes, but if it's a more expensive item, one tends to note it's disappearance.

It's these serious issues that will be eBay's downfall, strictly because they don't know how to fix it. There are three ways to force a manual revision of listings. Listings can be revised in bulk pre rules template. This is useful if you've made a change to the rules template and need the changes reflected on eBay.
